Leon J. Chojnowski

December 2, 1924 — July 7, 2005

Leon J. Chojnowski, 80, of 165 State Rd., Otter River, died Thursday, July 7th in Health Alliance-Leominster Hospital, Leominster, following a short illness.

Born in Gardner on December 2, 1924, he was the son of Joseph and Carolina (Trohol) Chojnowski.

He was a foreman of the Print Shop at Simplex Time Recorder Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. Martin's Church, Otter River. He was a member of V. F. W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, Deep Sea Club and the Otter River Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, carpentry and bowling in the candlepin leagues.

Mr. Chojnowski was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with 1 star, And Amphibious Force Insignia.

His wife of 40 years, Ethel E. (Beaumier) Chojnowski died in 2001.

He leaves 3 daughters, Donna E. Cloutier and husband Thomas of Phoenix, AZ, Lucy E. Cornaglia and husband Carl of Middle Haddam, CT, Karoline A. Chojnowski of South Grafton; 1 brother, Theodore Chojnowski and wife Pauline of Gardner; 3 sisters, Theresa Divigilo and husband Aldo of Otter River, Jenny Sunderland of Gardner, Mary MacIntosh of Kennebunk, ME; 5 grandchildren, Lauran and Megan Cornaglia, Carla Warner, Aaron Tice and Ethan Cloutier; 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11th @ 10:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, July 10th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
