Leo E. Trembley

July 2, 1917 — February 8, 2010

Leo E. Trembley, 92, of 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, formerly of 116 Church Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, February 8th in Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, following a brief illness.

Leo was born in Gardner on July 2, 1917, the son of the late Vincent and Marguerite (Pitre) Tremblay.

Leo was a woodworker employed by Fontaine Bros. of Gardner for 5 years, retiring in 1982. He was previously employed by Modern Contract Furniture of Gardner.

Leo was a United States Navy World War II Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with 1 star, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Leo was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner, and was former Post Junior Commander from 1979-1980, Post Senior Commander from 1980-1981 and Post Commander from 1981-1982.

Many years ago Leo was a boxer, and played football , wearing #70 for the Gardner Merchants Football Team. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the news on television.

Leo was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Lena M. (Girouard) Trembley, who died November 13, 1980.

He leaves one son, Paul R. Trembley of Gardner; two daughters, Priscilla M. Graves and her husband Brian of Gardner and Claire E. Higginbotham and her husband Russell of Ashburnham; two grandchildren, Tammy L. Dystra and Richard A. Ballou; four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was predeceased by one sister, Jeannette Bourgeois.

A Memorial Service and burial will be held Tuesday, February 16th at 1:30 p.m. in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

There are no calling hours.
