Leo H. Monette, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Healthalliance Hospital of Leominster, following a long illness.
Leo was born in E. Templeton on December 24, 1933, the son of the late Harvey J. and Roseanna (Duquette) Monette.
He was employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner as the manager of Office Services for many years, retiring in 1996.
Leo graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1951. He was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
Leo enjoyed golfing, spending time on the computer and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Leo was a member of the Napoleon Club of Gardner and its State Champion softball team. He served on the Board of Directors of GFA Federal Credit Union of Gardner from 1978 through 1998, and served as Chairman of the Board from 1984 through 1986.
Leo leaves his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Lampert) Monette of Gardner; one son, James L. Monette of Gardner; three daughters, Janice B. Gray and her husband Alan of Gardner, Jean M. Evans and her husband Alan of Acworth, GA and Julie A. Nordman and her husband Jack of Gardner; one sister-in-law, Rachel Tresback of Gardner; nine grandchildren, Lynne Evans, Laura Donner, Melissa Nordman, Bethany Nordman, Katelyn Nordman, Alison Mann, Erin Gray, Colby Monette and Timothy Monette; five great-grandchildren, Logan Roya, Lily Kate Roya, Isaiah Monette, Dominic Monette and Gianna Monette; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Delphis, Edward, Henry and Roger Monette.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, October 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
