Leo Joseph Bosselait, 93, of 51 Hospital Road, Templeton, formerly of 145 Blanchard Street, Gardner died peacefully Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner with his family by his side.
Leo was born in South Ashburnham on September 21, 1919, the son of the late Thomas and Alma (LeBlanc) Bosselait.
He was educated in the South Ashburnham and Fitchburg school systems.
Leo was a United States WWII Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Ribbon with four battle stars, Victory Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.
Leo was a woodworker employed in the janitorial services department of Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner for several years, retiring in 1981. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner, General Electric Company of Fitchburg as a pipefitter and in the maintenance department of the National Guard Armory in Gardner. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the South Ashburnham Fire Department for many years.
Leo was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
He was a member of the VFW Post 905 of Gardner and was a member of the WWI and WWII Yankee Division Veterans Association Inc.
Leo enjoyed singing and performed in many minstrel shows in Gardner. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Leo treasured his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Boucher) Bosselait who died in 1997.
He leaves three sons, Paul Bosselait of Las Cruces, NM, George Bosselait of Stanwood WA and Joe Bosselait of Townsend; four daughters, Theresa Jaillet of Gardner, Linda Bosselait of Indianapolis, Dolores Johnson and her husband Don of Lake Worth, FL and Mary Blake and her husband Steve of Phillipston; one sister Lena Hill of South Ashburnham; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Thomas, Alphonse, Adelard and John Bosselait and by two sisters, Adelle Mailloux and Rose Hamel.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
