Lena M. (Gaudet) Poirier, 85, of 99 Bridge St., Baldwinville, died peacefully Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Legends Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a brief illness.
Born on November 4, 1925, in St. Paul, N.B., Canada, she was the daughter of Camille and Eugenie (Goguen) Gaudet.
Lena spent most of her life as a homemaker, and later was employed by various local nursing homes as a Nurses Aide and was also employed by several local manufacturing companies
Mrs. Poirier was a member of St. Martin's Church, Otter River. She enjoyed reading, cooking and watching the food network. Her greatest joy came from visiting her homeland, Canada, and spending time with her family.
Her husband of 44 years, Bernard Poirier, died in 1991.
She leaves 2 daughters, Kate A. Stone and her husband Gary Nolt of Wilmington, NC, and Jacqueline C. Leger and her husband Claude of Gardner; one brother, Normand D. Gaudet of St. Paul, NB, Canada; 7 sisters, Emilie Petitpas, Rita Kervin and her husband Vincent, all of Moncton, N.B., Canada, Lorette MacDonald and her husband Albert, Florence Gautreau and her husband Donald all of St. Paul, NB, Canada, Marie Girouard of Shediac, N.B. Canada, Cecile Devarennes of Bouctouche, NB, Canada, and Anna Henrie and her husband Albert of Gardner; 12 grandchildren, Tina Thomas, Tracy Jean, Patti Dunn, Jacob, Karen and Joseph Poirier, Jessie Callahan, Marc, Kayla and Lori Leger, Kyle and Kasey Poirier; 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased 2 sons, Roger J. and Robert B. Poirier; 4 brothers, Edward, Edmond, Herve and Alfred Gaudet; 1 sister, Alexina Pyle and one grandchild, Cody Poirier.
A graveside service in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, will be held and announced at a later date.
