Lena J. (Melanson) Minns, 89, of 61 Lake Street, Gardner died peacefully, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Born in Rumford, Maine on October 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Babineau) Melanson.
Lena was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gardner.
She enjoyed dining out, playing cards, watching "Wheel of Fortune" on television and cooking. Lena's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Lena was predeceased by her husband Raymond C. Minns who died November 10, 1980.
She leaves five daughters, Carol A. Donahue of Boonville, MO, Lucille J. Fagan of Riverton, WY, Janice M. Hook of Templeton, Elaine D. Hayden and her husband Elwyn of Clarksville, NH and Susan M. Prentiss and her husband Donald of Hubbardston; two sisters, Alma T. Jaillet and her husband Peter of Gardner and Germaine M. Melanson of Gardner; one sister-in-law, Aldora Melanson of Gardner; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Lena was predeceased by three brothers, Robert J., Maurice H. and Theodore Melanson and by two sisters, Claire Nolin and Bertha Boucher.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
A calling hour in the funeral home is Monday, March 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
