Lea M. Babin

Lea M. (Gallant) Babin, 88, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, December 17, 2021, in her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Azelie (Cormier) Gallant. She graduated from Bouctouche High School. Lea was a self-employed home health care worker taking care of the elderly for many years prior to her retirement.

Lea was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She enjoyed playing BINGO and scratch tickets. Lea loved listening to country music, camping, and traveling—visiting many places throughout the years. Her greatest joy was found when she was with her family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Lea is survived by her four daughters, Martha Martin and her husband Luc of Gardner, Joanne Babin of Phillipston, Denise Boudreau and her husband David of Florida, and Shelley Berry and her husband Tom of Phillipston; a son, Randy Babin, and his wife Kelly of Phillipston; seven grandchildren, Corey Martin, Kristy Jones, Nicholas Babin, Jonathan Richard, Samantha Babin, Jessica Mariani, and Christopher Boudreau; a great-grandchild, Elora Mariani; five sisters, Nola Bear of Canada, Jeannette Sawyer of Canada, Yvonne Jaillet of Gardner, Ann Marie Gallant and her husband Dave Moore of Templeton, and Bernice Vallee of Hubbardston; a brother, Joe Gallant and his wife Francese of Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. Babin, who died in 2000; a son Robert “Bobby” Babin, who died in 1981; and three brothers, Leonce, Elmo, and Meddy Gallant.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held at a later date.

A Calling Hour will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

The family asks that all those in attendance please adhere to wearing masks.
