Lawrence E. "Larry" Leroy, Jr, 88, of 32 Mayo Drive, Holden, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, April 24, 2015 in Holden Rehab and Nursing Center, Holden.
Born in Gardner on March 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Olive C. (Hill) Leroy.
Larry graduated from Gardner High School of Gardner with the Class of 1944. He was an electrician employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
Larry was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner, the Napoleon Club of Gardner, AARP, Gardner Golden Agers and was a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #396 of Gardner.
He was a United States World War II Navy Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.
Larry enjoyed dancing, going to Foxwoods, watching old movies and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid sports fan who played semi-pro football for the Hillside Gymnasts of Gardner, was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots and enjoyed watching the University of Notre Dame Football Team. Larry treasured spending time with his family and loved attending family gatherings.
He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Anita M. (Allain) Leroy, who died September 5, 2012.
Larry leaves one son, Timothy H. Leroy and his wife Cynthia of Winchendon; four daughters, Susan L. Barnard and her husband Charles of Hubbardston, Cynthia A. LeBlanc and her significant other, David Harvey of Hubbardston, Brenda M. Stickney and her husband Dale of Baldwinville and Maureen E. Owens and her husband Robert of Gardner; five grandchildren, Christopher Tourtellot, Jason Dell, Travis Stickney, Trisha Pietras and Connor Leroy; two step-grandchildren, Kelly Barnard and Charlie Barnard, Jr; several great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Irene Fournier of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Howard Leroy; one sister, Elizabeth Landry and by one grandson, Adam Gallant who died in 2000.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, April 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
