Lawrence J"Larry" Curran

Lawrence J. "Larry" Curran, 76, 183 Sunrise Lane, Gardner, formerly of Fitchburg, died peacefully Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a long illness.
Born in Boston on August 21, 1937, he was the son of the late James M. and Elizabeth (Crowell) Curran.
Lawrence graduated from Natick High School with the Class of 1955 and later attended Fitchburg State College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran and received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award GO 55, 1957, Hq USAF.
Lawrence was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs in Bedford, MA as a Programmer Analyst for eight years. He was previously employed by Legal Data Systems.
He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church of Lunenburg. He was also a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner and was a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus of Gardner.
Larry was predeceased by his wife of 19 years, Virginia (Sund) Curran who died February 28, 2001.
He leaves two sons, Scott A. Curran and his wife Denise of San Antonio, TX and Michael J. Curran of Placitas, NM; two stepsons, Dino Ghilardi and his wife Diane of Ridgecrest, CA and Paul Ghilardi and his wife Terry of Winchester, TN; three stepdaughters, Lisa Whaley of Gardner, Tina Capone and her husband Peter of Fitchburg and Debra Leger and her husband Kevin of Fitchburg; two sisters, Sylvia C. Chiampa of Lantana, Fl and Anne Schavone of Uxbridge; fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two aunts, two nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg at a later date.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
