Kenneth R. MacLean, 83, of Hubbardston, died peacefully Friday, October 11, 2024, in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, Templeton, after a period of declining health with his family by his side.
Born in Fitchburg on August 26, 1941, Ken (as he was warmly known by) was the son of the late Kenneth A. and Yvonne E. (Rodier) MacLean. He attended St. Bernard’s Central Catholic School until his junior year and graduated from Lunenburg High School with the Class of 1960. Ken was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1959 to 1963, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, and was recently honored for his service from Brookhaven VA Hospice. He had a long career as a quality control specialist employed by Simond’s Saw and Steel of Fitchburg for 40+ years until his retirement.
Ken’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He treasured his time spent together and was always supporting each one whether a football game, soccer, bocce, or traveling on vacation to meet up and enjoy sharing time and memories. He was a passionate music enthusiast, especially oldies music —recording all kinds of music and sharing with all who enjoyed his passion. He was also a history buff. He had a great appetite for history and loved to learn about new and exciting past events through reading, as well as his travels and explorations.
Ken is survived by his loving wife and partner of 45 years, Bonny (Curtis) MacLean of Hubbardston; two sons, Scott MacLean of Gardner and Kevin MacLean; loving “father” to Bonny’s children, Heidi Keathley of Lynn, Todd Krauss of Nashua, NH, Roger Gray of Tucson, AZ, and Kristen Femino and her husband Steven of Hubbardston; six grandchildren, Ellery, Megan, Eric, Angelo, Ashley and Jack; three great-grandchildren, Aliyk, Skylah and Jesse; his caring sister, Jean Oksanen and her husband Donald of Griswold, CT; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a stepson, Kenneth R. Krauss Jr.
