Kenneth G. "Ken" Montville, 87, of 3 Valley Street, Fitchburg, died peacefully, Friday, January 29th in UMass Memorial - HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on November 21, 1922, he was the son of the late William and Bulah (Merritt) Montville.
Prior to retiring in 1990, Ken was employed by Kelly Bros. of Gardner for several years as a planer, and at MOC Learning Center in Fitchburg where he worked as a janitor.
Ken was a volunteer at Montachusett Outreach Center in Gardner. He loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Ken enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune on television and bowling.
He is survived by one daughter, Shirley Carpenter of Florida: two sons, Kenneth Montville, Jr. and his wife Laurel of Metamura, IN and Timothy Montville and his wife Susan of Milford; one brother, Robert C. Montville and his wife Marlene of Fitchburg; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, William F. Montville, who died in 1993, and by one brother, Arnold Montville who died in 2003.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Pastor David Cote will be officiating. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Saturday, February 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
