Kenneth A. "Ken" Lovejoy, 94, of 70 Leamy Street, Gardner died peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2013 in the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Coreys, New York on August 30, 1918, the son of the late Carl H. and Frances (Vosburgh) Lovejoy.
Kenneth graduated from Saranac Lake High School, Saranac Lake, NY.
He was a United States WWII Army Veteran, and was present for the invasions of Pearl Harbor and Saipan. Kenneth received the Good Conduct Medal with Clasp, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the American Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star.
He was a plumber employed by MIT Lincoln Laboratories of Lexington for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was previously employed by Wheelan Supply Company of Gardner.
Kenneth was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner.
He was an accomplished artist. Kenneth taught art classes, enjoyed hunting, reading, fishing and listening to big band music. He was an avid sports fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Kenneth leaves his wife of 67 years, Adah M. (Rondeau) Lovejoy of Gardner; one son, Jeffrey A. Lovejoy and his wife Sarah of Houlton, ME; two daughters, Patricia J. Ahlers and her husband Peter of Gloucester and Catherine A. Bourgeois and her husband Peter of South Lake Tahoe, CA; two grandchildren, Jennifer Ahlers and Kelsey Ahlers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Sunday, April 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
