Kathleen M. "Kay" (Doherty) Ellis, 65, of 61 Lake St., Gardner and formerly of 26 St. Elmo Road, Worcester, died Sunday, December 19th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Worcester on January 17, 1939, she was the daughter of Michael F. and Catherine (McAuliffe) Doherty.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse employed at Worcester City Hospital, Worcester for 15 years.
She was a 1978 graduate of David Hale Fanning School of Health Occupations and provided private duty and health care in the Worcester area.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Worcester where she taught CCD, was a den mother of Pack 4 and was librarian at Blessed Sacrament School. She was also a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church of Worcester and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time at Hampton Beach, NH.
Mrs. Ellis leaves 3 sons, Joseph T. Ellis and wife Diane of Worcester, Stephan P. Ellis and wife Jane of Newington, CT, Michael F. Ellis and wife Lisa of Gardner; 3 brothers, Cornelius Doherty, John Doherty and George Doherty all of Worcester; 1 sister, Noreen Early of Paxton; 8 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Paul and Michael Doherty both of Worcester and 2 sisters, Mary Murray of Amherst, NH and Ellen McCourt of Spencer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, December 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Montachusett Home Care, 62 Waterford St., Gardner, MA 01440 or to Wachusett Manor Nursing Home Activity Fund, 32 Hospital Hill Rd., Gardner, MA 01440.
