Karen Elizabeth (Hamel) Dempsey, 47, of Winchendon died Friday, May 11, 2018 in Athol Memorial Hospital, after being stricken ill.
Karen was born in Gardner on July 21, 1970, the daughter of Robert Hamel and the late Barbara (Hojnowski) Hamel. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1988.
She was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner. Karen was a cafeteria worker employed by Marriott Food Services of Westminster and Gardner prior to retiring.
She enjoyed listening to audio books and spending time with her cat Marley. Karen was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NASCAR, and in years past she loved spending time caring for her horses. She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her upbeat personality and sense of humor.
Karen leaves her father, Robert R. Hamel of Winchendon; one son, Warren C. Dempsey of Winchendon; one daughter, Korrie L. Dempsey of Everett; her former husband, Wade Dempsey of Haverhill; one uncle, Edward Hojnowski of Pownal, VT; and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 17th at 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, May 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
