Judith M. Burpee

Judith M. (Young) Burpee, 72, of Templeton, died peacefully Thursday, May 23, 2024, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—University Campus, Worcester, after a period of declining health with her family by her side. 

Born in Athol on July 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Thomas) Young. She graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1969. She graduated from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1972 with her Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Westfield State College in 1974 with her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and Worcester State College with her Master's in Education in 1986. Judy was a preschool teacher employed by Educare of Orange for many years before her retirement. In retirement she worked at as a clerk at Walmart.

Judy lived life to the fullest. She loved to scrapbook and watch her New England Sports teams, especially her Boston Red Sox. Judy loved to take trips to her happy place, York Beach, Maine, where you could find her enjoying a good lobster dinner. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her daughter’s cheer team, where she was always their biggest supporter. 

Judy is survived by her daughter, Megan Hazelton, and her husband, Tim of Templeton; her sister, Barbara Haley of Florida; and several cousins. 

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Patriots Road, Templeton, MA, will be held at a later date. 

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
