Joyce Marion (LeBlanc) Ruckey, 65, of 238 Baldwinville Rd., Templeton, died peacefully from brain cancer on Tuesday, July 25th in Gardner at the home of her sister, Donna LeBlanc.
Born in Gardner on June 6, 1941, she was the daughter of Edward and Dorothy M. (Graves) LeBlanc.
She was a mental health care worker employed by the Templeton Redevelopment Center from 1978 to 2001. She previously worked with children with special needs.
Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Gardner High School. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, E. Templeton where she taught CCD. She was a member of V.F.W. Women's Auxillary, Ovila Case Post 905 and the Polish American Social League, both of Gardner. She also participated and assisted with several local spiritual self-help organizations.
She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed gardening, sewing and Swedish embroidery. 'Gramma Joyce' especially enjoyed watching her grandson play hockey and traveling to Texas to enjoy family time with her granddaughters.
She leaves her husband of 47 years, William R. Ruckey of Templeton; 1 son, Kenneth A. Ruckey of Lubbock, TX; 2 daughters, Denise Karbarz and husband Joseph of Bloomington, IL, Catherine A. Ruckey of Gardner; 2 brothers, Allan LeBlanc and wife Darlene of Royalston, Edward LeBlanc of Westminster; 4 sisters, Donna LeBlanc of Gardner, Terry LaFortune of Winchendon, Linda Bilodeau and husband David, Patricia Tenney all of Rindge, NH; 3 grandchildren, Eric R. Grady, Kenna A. and Faith A. Ruckey; 1 aunt, Marjorie Landry of Palo Alto, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Ruckey who died in 1964 and a sister, Anne LeBlanc.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., E. Templeton. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, July 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
