Josephine V."Josie" Bankowski

Josephine V. "Josie" Bankowski, 90, who resided at 126 Pleasant Street, Gardner for the past 34 years, died suddenly, Monday, May 12, 2014 in her residence.
Born in Gardner on March 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Veronica (Raczkewicz) Bankowski.
Josephine graduated from Gardner State Hospital School of Attendant Nursing in 1952, and was employed by Mill Hill Nursing Home of Worcester as a nurses aide for 15 years. She later was employed in the housekeeping department of the former LaChance Nursing Home of Gardner, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
Josephine leaves one sister-in-law, Theresa Bankowski of Melbourne Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Henry Bankowski and Joseph Bankowski; and one sister, Victoria Granroos.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 16th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be Friday, May 16th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Animal Control Facility, with checks made payable to City of Gardner Animal Shelter Fund, c/o Board of Health, 95 Pleasant Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
