Joseph E. Martin, 88, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, July 23, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family after an illness.
Born in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, Canada, on April 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Hector and Ida (Godin)Martin. He attended Saint-Louis College in Edmundston, New Brunswick. Joseph was a Polisher and Machine Operator employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 32 years before his retirement in 1998.
Joseph was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, where he practiced at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Joseph enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling, especially to the beaches and taking cruises. He also loved to go hunting and dancing. He loved to watch Western and James Bond movies, as well as watch hockey and baseball games. But Joseph’s favorite time was with his family, treasuring all their special moments together.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aline B. Martin of Gardner; a daughter, Nicole L. Hutt and her husband Douglas of Gardner; three sons, Glen F. Martin of Templeton, Steven E. Martin and his wife Susan of Ormond Beach, FL, and Michael R. Martin and his wife Franca of Hubbardston; six grandchildren, Eric, Todd and his wife Jade, and Samantha Hutt, Joshua, Luke and Isabella Martin; three great grandchildren; Colin Rowe, Kira and Calvin Hutt along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 2:30 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Worcester Road, Hubbardston, MA, will be held at a later date.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, July 28, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
