Joseph Nestor "Nesto" Lison, 94, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, March 17, 2017 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, following a long illness.
Joseph was born in Bouctouche, N.B. Canada on June 21, 1922, the son of the late Archie and Rosalie (LeBlanc) Lison.
He graduated from Cushing Academy of Ashburnham with the Class of 1948, and attended Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Joseph was a United States WWII Army Veteran, and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
He was employed by Stanley Works Company of New Britain, CT as a Statistical Sampler for twenty years, retiring in 1985.
Joseph was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the VFW Post 905 Ovila Case of Gardner and the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
Joseph enjoyed baseball, basketball, skating, tennis, swimming and volleyball.
He leaves one sister, Melina Stone of Gardner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joseph was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Robert, James, George and Gustave Lison; and by three sisters, Alcidie Nyman, Albertine Doiron and Rosie Lison.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
