Joseph L"Larry" Gallant

November 30, 1923 — April 25, 2012

Joseph L. "Larry" Gallant, 88, of 104 Church Street, Gardner, formerly of 69 Racette Avenue, died peacefully Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a long illness.
Joseph was born in Rumford, Maine, November 30, 1923. He was the son of the late Joseph C. and Emily (Legere) Gallant.
Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a tenent press operator employed by Nichols and Stone Company of Gardner for 35 years.
He was a WWII United States Army Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner.
Joseph enjoyed dancing, walking, and playing the guitar and harmonica,. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Catherine A. (Boucher) Gallant of Gardner; one son, Ronald J. Gallant and his wife Louise M. of Westminster; two daughters, Elaine M. Mitchell of Florence, AZ and Ann-Marie Menchin of Brockton, MA; two sisters, Jeannette Fournier and her husband Enoil of Gardner and Jacqueline Laprade of Gardner; seven grandchildren, Darren Gallant, Rhonda Rameau, Jessica Gladding, Jay Julian, Cherie Stevens, Michelle Blue and Sheila Stevens; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Gallant and Bertha LeBlanc.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Wednesday, May 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
