Joseph Denis "Dick" Fontaine, 74, of 72 Robillard Street, Gardner, died suddenly Monday, October 16th in U-Mass, University Campus, Worcester.
Born in Greenfield, MA on July 19, 1932, he was the son of Robert and Eva (Laroche) Fontaine.
Joseph was a Computer Wireman employed by Digital Manufacturing in Westminster for 11 years, until his retirement in 1982. He was previously employed by Van Huffel in Gardner.
Joseph was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 129 of Gardner. He was a private single engine pilot. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching airplane, history and animal television shows. Joseph loved dogs and cats. He was especially fond of Bangel and Siamese cats.
Joseph was a United States Korean War Air Force Veteran, and received the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia J.M. (Tisdale) Fontaine; 2 aunts, Mariette Moreau of Burlington, VT and Sister Gelbert Fontaine of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, Pomfret, CT, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, October 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
