Joseph R. "Pete" Dupuis, 73, of 137 Mechanic St., Gardner, died unexpectedly Monday, May 2nd in his residence.
Born in Gardner on October 5, 1931, he was the son of Samuel and Emma (Belliveau) Dupuis.
At the time of his death he was a part-time employee of the Gardner Senior Center. He also managed Route 101 Car Wash and Speedway Gas Station. He was a finishing supervisor employed by the former Pine Mill of Gardner and also worked at Modern Contract Furniture Co. of Gardner.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed making puzzles, playing cribbage and had an interest in Egyptian Archaeology.
Mr. Dupuis was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, 1 Overseas Bar and the National Defense Service Medal.
His wife of 47 years, Theresa Catherine (Cormier) Dupuis died in 2002.
He leaves 2 sons, Philip J. Dupuis and friend Kathy Mahoney of Gardner; Paul R. Dupuis and wife Mary of Templeton; 1 brother Gerald Dupuis of Gardner; 1 sister, Helen Nelson of Gardner; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Dupuis of Phillipston and Jennifer Dupuis of Marlboro; 2 greatgrandsons, Jonathan & Logan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Henry Dupuis who died in 1965.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, May 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
