Joseph P. "Jay" Davini, Jr., 68, of 20 Baldwinville Rd., Templeton, died Sunday, June 19th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a long battle with cancer.
Born in Winchendon on December 25, 1936, he was the son of Joseph P. Davini and Grace M. (L'Etoile) Davini.
He was a Hoisting Engineer employed by International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4, of Boston for 50 years.
He was a 1954 graduate of Murdock High School, Winchendon and in 1955 graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburnham.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church, East Templeton. He owned several sports cars and enjoyed smoking his pipe. He particularly enjoyed being with his family.
Mr. Davini served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Frances M. (LeBlanc) Davini of Templeton; 2 sons, Jay W. Davini and wife Shawn of Manchester, NH, Gregory S. Davini and wife Lise of Plainfield, NH; 1 daughter, Karen M. Girouard and husband John of Templeton; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Nicholas and Jack Davini, Kyle, Kory, and Paige Girouard; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Kent J. Davini died in 1964.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., E. Templeton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, June 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
