Joseph E. "Moe" Breau, 88 of 305 Rue D'Orleans, San Diego, CA, formerly of 110 Marquette Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2012 in Hillcrest Hospital, San Diego, CA following a brief illness.
Joseph was born in Gardner on April 6, 1924, the son of the late Evariste and Albina (Leger) Breau.
He was an appraiser for the State of California for 25 years, retiring in 1983.
Joseph graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1942. He received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University in 1956.
He was a member of the Immaculata Church in San Diego, CA.
Joseph was a United States WWII Army Air Force Veteran, and received the WWII Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Rome-Arno Campaign Ribbon with four Bronze Stars.
He enjoyed golfing, reading, playing tennis and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid sports enthusiast of baseball and football, especially of the San Diego Padres.
Joseph enjoyed traveling to his hometown of Gardner each year and staying with his sister Stella Keresey and her husband James of Gardner. Besides his sister, he also leaves three nieces, six nephews and several cousins, and his dear friend Mikiko Takashima of San Diego. Joseph was predeceased by two brothers, Ovila and Arthur Breau and by one sister, Theresa Dery.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 1st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, May 1st from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m.
