Joseph R."JoeBoy" Berube

Joseph Rene (JoeBoy) Berube, 73, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, August 14, 2015. Born in Lynn, MA on January 24, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Gertrude (Harris) Berube.
Joe graduated from Northbridge High School and later attended Quinsigamond Community College of Worcester.
He was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran and received the Army of Occupation Medal and a Sharp Shooter Medal.
Joe was employed by Bay State Abrasives of Westboro, MA as a Drill Press Operator for 37 years, retiring in 2003.
His hobbies included hunting, reading, archery, and playing cribbage and poker. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Raiders. Joe also enjoyed watching the History Channel, Discovery Channel and military shows on television; and he loved spending time with his family.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 9013 of Westboro, the Northboro Fish and Game Club and was a founding member of the Northboro Minuteman Organization.
Joe leaves one son, Joe-Henry J. Berube and his wife Heather of Grafton; two daughters, Barbara A. Cahill and her husband James of Grafton and Deborah-Jean Strachan and her husband Alexander of Rutland; two brothers, Gene Berube of Springhill, FL, James Berube and his wife Tammy of Waterford, CT; two sisters, Louisa Wheeler-Alexiades and her husband John of Hopedale, MA and Patricia Killian and her husband Donald of Winter Haven, FL; one brother-in-law, Harry Clifford of Blackstone, MA; one sister-in-law, Lynn Berube of Summerfield, FL; six grandchildren; Danielle Cahill, Taylor Strachan, Shannon Cahill, Nicholas Strachan, Benjamin Berube and Cooper Berube; eighteen nieces and nephews and several cousins. Joe was pre-deceased by two siblings; Robert Berube and Carolyn Clifford.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
