Joseph Alfred "Fred" Arsenault, 86, of 137 State Road, Baldwinville died peacefully Friday, February 11, 2011 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Ave North, Worcester following an illness.
Fred was born in Gardner on June 30, 1924, the son of the late Henry and Annie (O'Brien) Arsenault.
Fred was a carpenter employed by Sandborn Wood Products in Winchendon for 5 years, retiring in 1986. He was previously employed for several years by Fairway Construction Company in Fitchburg.
Fred was a Royal Canadian Air Force Veteran and received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, C.V.S.M. and Clasp, War Medal 1939-45 and the Pilot's Flying Badge.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville.
Fred enjoyed gardening, watching television, and playing Bingo. He loved to build engines, especially Robert Sterling Engines. Fred also enjoyed going to Foxwoods Casino.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Loretta R. (Kirby) Arsenault of Baldwinville; three sons, Ronald H. Arsenault of Baldwinville, Robert A. Arsenault and his wife Sharon of Gardner and Kenneth W. Arsenault and his wife Lee of Winchendon; one daughter, Kathy M. Berger and her husband Robert of Livermore, CA; three brothers, Edgar Arsenault and his wife Vera of Charleston, SC, Emery Arsenault of Orange and Joseph Paul Arsenault and his wife Patricia of E. Templeton; three grandchildren, Allen and Jamie Arsenault and Elizabeth Berger; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Laurie Arsenault.
Funeral Services will be held in St. Vincent De Paul Church, Baldwinville and will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, and will also be announced at a later date.
