Jose M. Fuentes-Robledo, 78, of 129 Oak Street, Gardner died peacefully Monday, April 15, 2013 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a long illness.
Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on May 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Juan and Natividad (Robledo) Fuentes.
Jose was a United States Korean and Vietnam War Army Veteran, serving from 1953 through 1973. He received the National Defense Service Medal, 4 Overseas Service Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge M-16 and the Expert Rifle Badge M-4. He also received his GED during his service years.
Jose was employed by Hahnemann Hospital of Worcester as a chef for many years. He was previously employed by Sam's Club of Worcester.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, both of Gardner.
Jose enjoyed watching sports on television (especially the Yankees), listening to the music channel, baking and was an avid gardener. Jose was a huge fan of John Wayne. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Carmen (Robles) Fuentes-Robledo who died June 14, 1994.
Jose leaves one son, Jamie Fuentes of Worcester; two daughters, Carmen Primeau and her husband Jason of Gardner and Angela Fuentes of Gardner; eight grandchildren, Shane Bradford, Jenna, Haydee, Miguel, Daniel, Jessica, Maria and Anita Fuentes. He was predeceased by one son, Jose Fuentes-Robledo, Jr. who died in 2000.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 19th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 GlenAllen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
