Jon S. Menear

Jon S. Menear, 71, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

Born in Coos, Oregon, on June 29, 1951, he was the son of the late Vernon Menear and Patricia Elliot. Jon was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran serving from 1969 to 1973, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. He was the Owner and Operator, along with his late wife Deborah, of Smiley’s Taxi in Gardner for many years prior to his retirement.

Jon loved to paint, work on cars, play the guitar, and watch movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His late wife, Deborah, was his whole world, and he cherished all the moments they had together until her passing in 2021.

Jon is survived by his two sons, Shawn Lloyd of Gardner and Bruce Lloyd and his wife Cathy of Gardner; four grandchildren, Savannah Lloyd and her significant other Chris Giorlando, Ash Lloyd and their significant other Aurora Caraballo, Shayla and Aaliyah Berthiaume; two great-grandchildren, Kodah and Kaeden Giorlando; a sister, Suwanna Elliot; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Deborah L. (Rocheleau) Menear, who died in 2021, a granddaughter, Raelynn Lloyd, and a sister, Linda Jankins Wensel.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
