John "Jay" S. Sbrega, Jr., 54, of 67 Sawyer Street, Gardner, formerly of 46 Lennon Street, Gardner, died Wednesday, January 10th in his residence.
He was born in Gardner on April 26, 1952, the son of John S. and Edith M. (Zalewski) Sbrega. Sr.
Jay was a taxi cab driver employed by Stanley's Taxi of Gardner for several years, prior to retiring due to illness.
He graduated from Bridgeton Academy in Maine with the class of 1970, and in 1976 he received his bachelors degree from Salem State College, Salem.
Jay was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner.
He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed photography.
He leaves one son, John S. Sbrega III of Gardner; one sister, Darlene M. Sbrega of New York, New York; one granddaughter, Jolin S. Sbrega of Ashburnham; two uncles, one great-aunt, and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 26th at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
