John J."Jean-Guy" Poirier

John J. "Jean-Guy" Poirier, 64, of 34 Neale Road, Royalston died peacefully Friday, December 17, 2010 in The Highlands, Fitchburg surrounded by his family, following a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease.
Born in Rogersville, N.B. Canada on August 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Albert and Theresa (Vautour) Poirier.
Prior to retiring in 2006, John was a sheet metal mechanic employed by D.E. Corporation of Leominster for 35 years.
John was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
He enjoyed walking, traveling and mechanics. The most important aspect of his life was his family, whom he loved spending time with.
John leaves his wife of 32 years, Jacqueline (Blanchette) Poirier of Royalston; one son, David W. Poirier of Gardner; four stepsons, Michael A. Hastings and his wife Maureen of Northfield, VT, James E. Hastings of Denver, CO, Gary J. Hastings and his wife Cindy of Phillipston and Christopher A. Hastings and his wife Una of Peterborough, England; two stepdaughters, Candace M. Puntanen and her husband Rick of Hubbardston and Melissa L. Cormier and her husband John of Templeton; four brothers, Archie Poirier of Royalston, Louis Poirier and his wife Sarah of Royalston, Raymond Poirier of Royalston and Paul Poirier and his wife Diane of Orange; one sister, Monique Poirier of Royalston; thirteen grandchildren; three aunts, Flora Poirier, Anita Johnson and Bertha Leonard; one uncle, Louis Poirier; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Hector Poirier.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, December 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
