John Pienta

John Pienta, 89, of 14 Sand Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a brief illness.
He was born in Lawrence, MA on March 22, 1924, the son of the late George and Mary (Koseneski) Pienta.
John was employed by Bolta Company of Lawrence as a Plant Manager for several years, retiring in 1990. He was previously employed by Spectra Polymer Co., Inc. of Ashburnham.
John attended Lawrence High School.
He was a member of St. Denis Church of Ashburnham. He was also a member of the Turnpike Rod & Gun Club of Ashburnham.
John was a United States Marine Corp Veteran, serving in Guam during WWII and received the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He enjoyed bass fishing, hunting both rabbits and deer, and playing cribbage. During the past 60 years, he loved spending time and fishing at Squam Lake in New Hampshire.
John was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Pickolowicz) Pienta, who died in 1991.
He leaves two daughters, Susan K. White and her husband Robert of Dover, NH and Janet A. Machado and her husband Manny of Gardner; one brother, Walter Pienta and his wife Rose of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Robert and Steven Aho; three great-grandchildren, Jalen, Ronen and Ashley Aho; several nieces and nephews, including Joyce Bird and her family of CA, and Robert and Richard Pouliot of CA. John also leaves his fishing partner of many years, Claire Ries of NH. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edmond and Joseph Pienta and by one sister, Genevieve Pouliot.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date in St. Denis Cemetery, Ashburnham.
There are no calling hours.
