John B. Palmieri

October 2, 1927 — March 7, 2008

John B. Palmieri, 80, of 224 Vine Street, Athol died Friday, March 7th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, following a long illness.

Born in Italy on October 2, 1927, he was the son of Angelo and Rose (Luri) Palmieri.

John was a Maintenance Supervisor for the Gardner District Court, Gardner for 15 years, retiring in 1990. He was previously employed at S. Bent Co. and Thayer Manufacturing Co. of Gardner.

Mr. Palmieri was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner and Our Lady Immaculate Church, Athol. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner.

John was a United States WWII Marine Veteran, and received the Good Conduct Medal.

John was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and watching classic television shows. He also played the guitar for the Holy Cross Church prayer group.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Beverly J. (McAdams) Darling-Palmieri of Athol; three sons, Scott J. Palmieri and his wife Kathleen, Stephen H. Palmieri, and Jeffrey M. Palmieri and his wife Lisa all of Gardner; two daughters, Linda M. Bourgeois and her husband Gerald of Templeton and Nancy Palmieri of Leominster; one brother, Rocco Palmieri and his wife Nina of Leominster; one sister, Ida Dintino of Clinton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves a dear friend Michelle Antonelli of Fitchburg. He was predeceased by one brother, Michael Palmieri.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 13th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, March 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
