John J. Mangan

September 15, 1929 — July 17, 2004

John J. Mangan, 74, of 51 Valley Court, Fitchburg, died Saturday, July 17th in Univ. of MA Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness.

Born in Dublin, Ireland on September 15, 1929, he was the son of Frank and Mary (O'Callaghan) Mangan and arrived in the United States 31 years ago.

He was a Computer Assembler employed by Stratus Corp. of Hudson for 8 years, retiring in 1994.

He graduated from Westland Rowe High School in Dublin and was a member of Assembly of God Church, Fitchburg. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Mangan enjoyed music and working around the house.

He leaves his wife of 11 years, Louise J. (Beville) Mangan of Fitchburg; 2 sons, Tony Mangan, Brian Mangan and his wife Nora all of Dublin; 1 daughter, Ann Salmon and husband John of Dublin; 3 stepsons, John P. Page and wife Betty of Dayton, OH, Michael Burgess of Bondsville,Mark Burgess and wife Denise of Orange; 4 stepdaughters, Marie Johnson and husband Jon of S. Royalston, Norma Jean Talbot and husband Steven of Athol, Jackie A. Britt and husband Chet of Apollo Beach, FL, Evie A. Boudreau and husband Michael of Athol; a brother, Frank Mangan of Marlboro; a sister, Marie Mangan of Hudson; 6 grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, Brian Mangan Jr., Gary, Serena, Mark Salmon, all of Dublin; several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Sheelagh Desjardins of Phoenix, AZ who died in 1991.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 24th @ 1:30 p.m. in Assembly of God Church, 739 Ashby State Rd., Fitchburg.

There are no calling hours.
