John Francis Lyskawa, 73, of Templeton, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2023, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Brighton.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Ervin L. Lyskawa and Eleanor Joan (Belinsky) Lyskawa-Long. John was employed by Bruce Transportation Group, it was here he found his love for buses. He later moved on to Butlers Bus Service where he was the Vice President of Finance and the President before his retirement. John was a United States Army Vietnam Era, serving from 1969 to 1972 where he received the National Defense Service Medal.
John was an avid reader, had a love for NASCAR, and was a collector of all things wolf and sailboat. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his family. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus of Orange.
John was the loving father of Nicole S. Lyskawa and her partner Kami Lahoski of Greenfield, Jeremiah J. Lyskawa and his wife Krystal (Seguin) of Templeton, and Jeffery R. Lyskawa and his wife Megan (Sorenson) of Hubbardston; grandfather of five, Ava, Mia, Zoey, Zander and Devin. John is also survived by his siblings, Ervin Bruce Lyskawa and his wife Patricia (Cady) of Manchester, NH, Gregory A. Lyskawa of Peace Dale, RI, Alexis J. Lyskawa of Fountain Hill, PA, Robert L. Lyskawa of Londonderry, NH, Addie Lee (Long) Rogers and her husband Kenneth of South Kingston, RI, Eric J. Long and his wife Stephanie (Zito) of Dallas, GA; and a sister-in-law, Shelia (MacPhearson) Long of Marietta, GA. He was predeceased by a brother, Christopher A. Long, as well as predeceased by his three nephews, Ervin Bruce Lyskawa Jr., Sean Mackenzie Mabus and Alex Dylan Lyskawa.
John had many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout various states, all of whom he loved dearly.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
