John J Comeau

John J. Comeau, 87, of 14 Page Avenue, Ashburnham, died peacefully Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in his residence, surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer.
John was born in N.B. Canada on September 19, 1923, the son of the late Victorin and Elizabeth (Boudreau) Comeau.
He was employed for several years by Independent Lock Company in Fitchburg as a general maintenance worker, retiring in 1986. After retirement he worked at Oak Hill Country Club, Nielson Molding Company and Marshall's Apple Farm.
John was a member of St. Denis Church in Ashburnham and a former member of St. Joseph's Parish in Fitchburg.
John was a 'jack of all trades' and enjoyed helping people. He assisted with the building of a house for the Habitat Program in Ashburnham during his 80's. He also built wishing wells and others objects, which were raffled at the annual church bazaar. John had great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. He loved music, played the harmonica and guitar, and loved to dance and sing. He was a member of "Two Heart's As One " Square Dancers for 20 years. He enjoyed boxing, baseball and watching "The Wheel of Fortune" on television. John was a loving and fun husband, father and friend, and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Juliette M. (Howard) Comeau of Ashburnham; two daughters, Brenda M. Caldwell of Athol and Jeannette A. Goguen of Gardner; three brothers, Leo Comeau of St. Therese, N.B. Canada, Albert Comeau and his wife Viola of Beresford, N.B. Canada and Gerald Comeau and his wife Doreen of Fredrickton, N.B.; Canada; two sisters, Delcina Richard and her husband Alfred of Fredrickton, N.B. Canada and Cecile Boudreau of Grand Falls, N.B. Canada; one sister-in-law, Emelinda Comeau of Petit-Rocher, N.B. Canada; two grandchildren, Stacey Caldwell and Jeffrey Comeau; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Karrysa, Coady, Megan, Alyssa and Alexis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Corinne Comeau who died at the age of 6; one brother, Alphee Comeau and two sisters, Yvette Roy and Aveline Michaud.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 24th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashburnham. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg at a later date.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
