John H. "Howard" Bryant,78 of 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, formerly of 23 Barthel Avenue, Gardner and Hudson, MA, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
Born in Nelson County, VA on October 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur Thomas and Lola Belle (Truslow) Bryant.
John was a Unites States Korean War Navy Veteran, serving from 1950 through 1954.
John was Executive Vice-President and Co-Owner of Hudson Lock Inc. of Hudson, MA for many years, retiring in in 1987.
He had a passion for standard bred horse racing, and owned Bryant Racing Stables in Hudson, MA.
He leaves three sons, James H. Bryant and his wife Debra of Wales, MA, Thomas W. Bryant and his wife Margaret of Hudson and Paul J. Bryant and his wife Diane of Ashburnham; two daughters, Diane J. Bryant and her significant other James Smallwood of Windsor, Maine and Sheila M. Bryant and her significant other Kevin Carpenter of Gardner; one brother, Kermit Bryant and his wife Elsie of VA; two sisters, Doris Hughes and her husband Gordon of VA and Virginia Bryant of VA; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; He was predeceased by his former wife, Lorraine M. (Thimot) Bryant who died in 2004 and by his sister, Hilda Thompson.
Funeral Services and burial will be private and held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 GlennAllen Street, Winchendon.
