Jeremiah L. 'Jerry' 'Miah' Oja, 27, of 143 Mt. Jefferson Road, Hubbardston, MA died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2013 after being stricken ill.
Born in Gardner on September 18, 1985, he was the son of Timothy Oja of Phillipston and Shellie (Wright) Batchelor, of Hubbardston. He lived and was raised in Hubbardston with his mom and his step-father, Chris, before recently moving to Pennsylvania.
He was a Yard Freight Manager employed at Horizon Mills of Ayer for two years. He previously worked at Mass Pallet Co. of Hubbardston.
Jeremiah was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in Barre with the Class of 2004 and was a member of its JROTC program. He played both football and baseball, enjoyed weight lifting, fishing and hiking. Time spent with family and friends was very important to him. He loved a good cookout and his mother's home cooked meals, leading her to be referred to as "Momma Crocker.'
Besides his father and mother, he leaves a step-father, Chris P. Batchelor of Hubbardston; a step-mother, Millie Oja of Phillipston; his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Beverly (Barrows) Oja of Phillipston; his step-grandparents, Gordon and Jeanine (LeBlanc) Batchelor of Phillipston; one step-brother, Israel Nunez of Winchendon; one step-sister, Mildred Nunez of Athol; four uncles, Douglas Wright of Templeton, Carl Wright and his wife Kim of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, Scott Oja of Phillipston, Jeff Oja of Florida; one aunt, Pam Bennett of Ashburnham, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Mae (Lucier) Wright.
Funeral Services will be held in Bethany Baptist Church, 72 Ryan Street, Gardner on Tuesday April 23, 2013 at 1pm.
There are no calling hours.
