Jeffrey P. Goguen

Jeffrey P. Goguen, 71, of Southbridge, died peacefully Thursday, October 26, 2023, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—University Campus, Worcester, after a 13-year courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Worcester on January 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Henry and Barbara (Quinlisk) Goguen. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1970. He would receive an Associate of Arts from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1972, a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida in 1974, and a Master of Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1994. Jeffrey was an English Language Teacher for Narragansett Regional High School for many years before retirement.

Jeffrey loved to be active in politics, working on campaigns for former Gardner City Counselor Henry Ares, former MA State Representative Robert Rice, former MA State Senator Jennifer Flanagan and served on the Gardner School Committee for many years. Jeffery was an avid stamp collector as well as reader. He loved to watch sports, race cars, and take trips to the beach, especially Myrtle Beach. His family was the most important aspect of his life; never wanted to miss a grandchild’s sporting event and also treasured all the special moments he had with his family throughout the years.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife of 51-years, Susan (Roy) Goguen of Southbridge; a son, Jack Goguen and his wife Collette of Winchendon; two daughters, Erika Paradis and her husband Bill of Southbridge and Tracy Johnson and her husband Marc of Athol; ten grandchildren, Cole and Tilly Paradis, Cora, Aideen, Owen and Tommy Goguen, Harper, Greyson, Abby, and Noah Johnson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
