Jeannette M. (Robichaud) Deveau, 73, of 45 Graham St., died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on September 14, 1937, she was the daughter of Amedee and Sylvia (Cormier) Robichaud.
Jeannette was a Para-Professional for Special Needs Children in the Gardner School System for 39 years until retiring in 2008. While working in the Gardner Public Schools, she was instrumental in scheduling the "Jump-Rope" competitions. She was previously employed by Thayer Manufacturing Co. of Gardner.
She was a 1955 graduate of Gardner High School and attended Mount Wachusett Community College.
Jeannette was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was a volunteer worker at the House of Peace & Education. She thoroughly enjoyed exercising with the Silver Sneakers group, traveling, going out for breakfast with her friends, gardening, playing scrabble, but most of all spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, former Mayor of Gardner John A. Deveau; three sons, Mark A. Deveau, VMD of Rockport, James A. Deveau and John A. Deveau, both of Gardner; 2 daughters, Sherrie L. Deveau of Manchester, CT, Judith M. LeBlanc of Gardner; one brother, Alphonse Robichaud and his wife Sandra of Florida; 2 sisters, Lorraine Cyganiewicz and her husband Joseph of Orange, Louise Stevens and her husband Robert of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Joshua J. Deveau, Andrew J. Deveau, Jacob M. LeBlanc, Tyler S. LeBlanc and Nicholas C. Deveau; one aunt, Irene Cormier, one uncle, Donald Cormier and his wife Sally all of Gardner, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves two dear friends, Roberta Kenda and Claudette (Kloo) Bourque.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be Monday March 28th at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours are Friday, March 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
