Jeannette E. (Provencher) Akin, 86, of 61 Pleasant Street, Baldwinville, died peacefully Friday, March 1, 2013, in her residence surrounded by family, following a brief illness.
She was born in Lowell on January 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Cora (Renaud) Provencher.
Jeannette was a graduate of Lowell High School, Lowell.
She was a homemaker for most of her life and also spent many years as a Civil Service Servant for the United States Government.
Jeannette was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville.
She was a seamstress, a doll maker and photo developer. She enjoyed writing, traveling, reading, playing ping-pong and watching mysteries on television.
Jeannette was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Albert M. Akin, who died June 28, 2011.
She leaves two sons, Jeffrey P. Akin of Wichita, Kansas and Michael J. Akin and his wife Carrie of Templeton; five daughters, Karen J. Harris of Cohoes, NY, Patricia A. Hartsfield and her husband Steve of Keithville, LA, Mary E. Kelly and her husband Dan of Fayetteville, NC, Susan T. Wojcian and her husband Steve of Richmond Hill, GA and Janet C. Cubas and her husband Alex of Navarre, FL; three sisters, Pauline Walker of Lowell, MA, Doris Mulvaney of Ridgefield, CT and Claire Harry of Thornton, CO; sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, John A. Akin and Mark A. Akin and one brother, Norbert Provencher.
Funeral Services and calling hours will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
