Jeanne M. (Goguen) Fitzgerald, 78, of Gardner, died Monday, May 30, 2016 in Broadview Assisted Living Facility of Winchendon, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Gardner on September 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Herve and Laura (LeBlanc) Goguen.
Jeanne graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1955. She graduated from Heywood Hospital School of Nursing of Gardner in 1958.
Jeanne was a Registered Nurse employed by Heywood Hospital for 41 years, retiring in 2000. She played a major role in the design of the LaChance Maternity Center at the hospital. Jeanne valued the many friendships she made throughout the course of her longtime nursing career.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Jeanne was also a member of the Gardner Chapter of AARP, and was a volunteer at Heywood Hospital and the Hospital's Aide Association.
Jeanne was an avid reader who always had a book with her. She enjoyed watching the 'Amazing Race' and the Home and Garden channel on television. Jeanne loved cooking large family meals for the holidays. She cherished times spent with her family and grandchildren. Jeanne loved spending time at Wells Beach, Maine; her heaven on earth.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 12 years, George K. Fitzgerald, who died in 1971.
She leaves three sons, Edward D. Fitzgerald of Gardner, John K. Fitzgerald and his wife Karen of Rutland and Timothy J. Fitzgerald and his companion Meghan Young of Leominster; one son-in-law, Steven Moore of Gardner; six grandchildren, Michael Fitzgerald, Matthew Moore, Patrick Moore, Emily Fitzgerald, Laura Fitzgerald and Jack Fitzgerald; three nieces, Weezie Colburn, Christine St. George and Lisa Levasseur; one nephew, Mark Levasseur; and several cousins. Jeanne was predeceased by her daughter, Katherine J. Moore; sister, Claire R. Lavoie; and nephew, Thomas Levasseur.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 7th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Monday, June 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family would also like to offer a sincere thank you to all of the staff at Broadview Assisted Living Facility, where she spent a major part of the last seven months of her life. They ensured that her days were safe, comfortable, engaging and dignified.
