Jared Francis"Beaver" Hakkinen

Jared Francis "Beaver" Hakkinen, 41 of 70 Forest Street, Baldwinville, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at home.
Born in Gardner on August 19, 1971, he was the son of Francis H. and Donna J. (Bernard) Hakkinen of Baldwinville.
Jared graduated from Narragansett Regional High School, Templeton with the Class of 1989. He worked for many years as a mason and later as a roofer for various companies, until an injury three years ago.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Baldwinville. He was also a member of the American Legion Roger P. Warfield Post 373 of Baldwinville.
Jared was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for fishing, camping and hunting. He could often be found walking around Depot Pond with his mom's dog frequently stopping to cast a line, but never caught a thing. In the past couple years he took an interest in golf and gardening with his mother. He loved trips to Cape Cod with his Dad to canal fish and camp.
Jared's greatest loves were his family. Besides his parents, he leaves his sister, Jessica M. Surette of Rindge, NH; his younger brother, Jamie R. Hakkinen of Baldwinville; two nieces whom he dearly loved, Alicia and Gabrielle Surette of Gardner; his nephew and wrestling partner, Noah James Reed of Rindge, NH.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville at a later date.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, January 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Jared's memory to the Templeton Animal Shelter, 381 Baldwinville Road, Templeton, MA 01468 or to the Templeton Fire Department-Ambulance Fund, 2 School Street, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
