Jane Flood

Jane E. "Granny" (Sheehan) Flood, 86, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville formerly of Hubbardston, died Thursday, October 19th in Baldwinville Nursing Home.
Born in New Haven, CT, on February 2, 1920, she was the daughter of Maygoe F. and Mary M. (Moran) Sheehan.
Jane was a Registered Nurse employed by Worcester Professional Registry for Nurses, Inc., Worcester, until her retirement in 1989. She was previously employed as the Director of Nurses at the former Parker Hill Nursing Home, Gardner (currently Wachusett Manor), from 1959 thru 1962 she was the Administrator of Baldwinville Hospital Cottages Nursing Home, she was the owner of Woodcrest Nursing Home in Petersham and was the first Superintendent of nurses at Athol Memorial Hospital.
She was a credit to her profession, an outstanding nurse and mother.
Jane graduated in 1938 from St. Bernards High School, Fitchburg. She received her Nursing Degree from Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in 1941.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Gardner. She belonged to A.A.R.P., was a member of Heywood Hospital Aide Association, was past President of the Baldwinville Nursing Home Residents Council, and a member of Athol Memorial Hospital's Retiree Association.
Jane enjoyed painting and was a small engine pilot.
She leaves one son, Fred Flood and his wife Joyce of Hubbardston; one daughter, Sharon Ahlers of Gardner; one brother, John Sheehan of Leominster; two grandchildren, Sherry Ahlers of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jason Flood and his fiancé Christina Speare of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one great-grandson, Jade Ahlers of Myrtle Beach, S.C., a special young man Kyle, and several nieces and nephews.
Jane was predeceased by her son Michael Flood of Petaluma, CA who died in 1994; three brothers, Maygoe Sheehan, Francis Sheehan, Phillip Sheehan; and one sister, Mary Agnes Gallagher.
According to her wishes, Jane has donated her body for medical research to University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
