James J. "Jim" Tamir Sr., 63, of 32 Chestnut Street, Gardner, died peacefully, Thursday, March 5, 2015 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.
Born in Lowell on June 17, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Tiladeski) Tamir.
James attended Dracut High School.
He was a machinist employed by The L.S. Starrett Company of Athol, retiring recently.
James was a member and current President of the Winchendon Rod and Gun Club, where he enjoyed target shooting and pin shoots.
He leaves two sons, James Jr. and his wife Diana of Fitchburg, and Lee of Dracut; one daughter, Tami Shaughnessey of Brighton; one brother, Thomas Tamir of Albany, NY; four grandchildren; Jayna, Christina, James III, and Dylan; one niece Tanya Tamir; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Barbara Tamir; and a granddaughter, Breanna.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Winchendon Rod and Gun Club, River Street, Winchendon.
