James P. Paquin, 78, of 36 Draper Rd., Gardner, died Wednesday in UMASS Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness.
He was born in Fitchburg on March 26, 1926.
He was a laboratory technician employed by the former Lilly Chemical Co. of Templeton for 36 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Paquin graduated from Templeton High School and was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner and American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, baseball, football and crossword puzzles.
Mr. Paquin was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and received the WW II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Julia P. (Shimkunas) Paquin of Gardner; 1 son, David J. Paquin and wife Jo-Ann of Peterborough, NH; 1 daughter, Janet P. Paquin of Acton; 1 brother, Eugene Moore of Tewksbury; 2 sisters, Doris Park of Sorrento, ME and Eunice Woodbury of Baldwinville; 1 granddaughter, Monique Paquin of Peterborough, NH; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his adoptive parents George and Grace (Greenleaf) Moore and 2 brothers Erwin Moore and Edward Paquin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15th @ 2:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Greenbower Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday, January 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
