James R"Jim" McGuinness

James R. "Jim" McGuinness, 71, of Fitchburg, formerly of New York, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in his residence after being stricken ill.
Born in Leominster on April 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert and Claire (Cote) McGuinness.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School of Fitchburg with the Class of 1961, and attended Stevens Business College and Northeastern University of Boston.
James was a United States Vietnam War Navy Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge from active duty in 1969, James served in the United States Navy Reserves through 1978.
He was employed by Del Laboratories, Inc. of New Jersey as a Manager for many years, retiring in 2011. He was previously employed by Farberware of New York and Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner.
James was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
He enjoyed video games, cooking, walking and physical fitness. He treasured spending time with his family.
He leaves one daughter, Amber L. McGuinness of Gardner; several cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Friday, January 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gardner Relay for Life, 350 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
