James H Hamilton, Sr

James H. Hamilton, Sr., 79, of 122 Athol Road, Royalston, died peacefully Friday, September 11th in Quabbin Valley Healthcare,
Athol, surrounded by his family.

Born in Mineola, New York on February 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Lelah (Dutschke) Hamilton.

At the time of his death, James and his wife Frances owned and operated Laser Classics, ltd. of Gardner for 25 years.

James graduated from Springfield Technical School with the Class of 1948. He attended Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox, MA the following year. James received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management in 1953 from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

James was a United States Korean War Army Veteran.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville.

James was a member of the Gardner Chamber of Commerce and in 1996 he received the Business Man of the Year Award. James was also a member of Wood Products Manufacturing Association of Westminster, the Otter River Sportsman Club and the American Legion, Roger P. Warfield, Post 373 of Baldwinville.

James loved sports and was an outstanding athlete. He played baseball and football while attending Springfield Technical School and Cranwell Preparatory. James won the Swimming State Championship in 1947. James later played semi-pro baseball. While attending Holy Cross he started as a running back for the Crusaders. He was also a yo-yo champion. James enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. In his later years, James enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on television.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Frances L. (Boguzis) Hamilton of Royalston; three sons, Sean Hamilton and his wife Diane of Templeton, Kevin R. Hamilton of Baldwinville and Thomas M. Hamilton and his fiancee Beth Juliano of Acton; four daughters, Mary T. Mason and her husband Joseph of Baldwinville, Linda A. Gallant and her husband Albert of Royalston, Patricia A. Vaillancourt and her husband Randall of Gardner and Kathleen M. Jankauskas and her husband Thomas of Phillipston; three step-sons, Randy J. Ramsdell and his wife Linda of Ashburnham, Thomas A. Ramsdell and his wife Linda of Royalston and James A. Ramsdell of Gardner; two step-daughters, Patricia A. Zub of Portland, Maine and Christine A. Janhunen of Baldwinville; one brother, Dr. Edward Hamilton and his wife Roberta of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Patricia Macdonald of Naples, FL; one sister-in-law, Joan Hamilton of Manchester, CT; 27 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his former wife, Anne C. (Tehan) Hamilton of Baldwinville. James was predeceased by two sons, Stephen P. Hamilton and James H. Hamilton, Jr. and by one brother, Dr. Charles Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September, 14th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, September 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stephen Patrick Hamilton Memorial Trust, c/o Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440. These funds will be used for the betterment of Templeton Little League Baseball.
