James H. "Jimmy" Hamilton Jr., 52, of Royalston, died Tuesday, June 10th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center-University Campus, Worcester, surrounded by his loving family, following a long struggle with cancer.
Born in Fort Hood, Texas on September 19, 1955, he was the son of James H. Hamilton Sr. of Royalston and Anne C. (Tehan) Hamilton of Baldwinville.
Jimmy was most recently involved in restoring an antique home in Royalston. He was previously a self-employed construction worker until retiring due to illness.
He was a 1973 graduate of Narragansett Regional High School, Baldwinville and attended UMass-Amherst.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Baldwinville.
He was an avid "outdoorsman" and loved to fish. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Besides his parents, he leaves 3 brothers, Sean Hamilton of Templeton, Kevin Hamilton of Baldwinville, Thomas Hamilton of Acton; 4 sisters, Mary Mason of Baldwinville, Linda Gallant of Royalston, Patricia Vaillancourt of Gardner, Kathleen Jankauskas of Phillipston; his fiancée, Theresa Gates of Royalston; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Patrick Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13th, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest St., Baldwinville. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville, will be at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, June 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stephen Patrick Hamilton Memorial Trust, c/o Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440. These funds will be used for the betterment of Templeton Little League Baseball.
