James "Jim" M. Gallagher, 58, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, August 19th in his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Newton on January 5, 1949, he was the son of Matthew and Mary (Lansed) Gallagher.
He was a truck driver employed by Savage & Co. of Waltham for many years until retiring due to illness.
Jim attended Newton North High School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Mary F. (Hogan) Gallagher of Gardner; 2 sons, Daniel J. Gallagher of Boston, Joseph M. Gallagher of Gardner; 1 daughter, Linda J. Gallagher of Gardner; two brothers, Russell F. Gallagher and his wife Bonnie of Tewksbury, William L. Gallagher of Natick; 2 sisters, Ruth M. Russell of Phoenix, AZ and Jean L. Harris of Waltham; 2 uncles and two aunts, Fred Campbell and his wife Alice of Weston, John Lansed and his wife Hazel of Watertown; a long-time best friend, Phillip St. Germain of Holliston; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Robert M. Gallagher who died in 2000.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Thursday, August 23rd from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
