Jadwiga R. (Agnes) Bonk, 94, of 94 Obery Street, Plymouth, MA, formerly of 8 Cypress Street, Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Life Care Center of Plymouth, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on September 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Maciej and Julianne (Rakowska) Kodys. Agnes graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1935.
Agnes was employed by Priscilla's Candy Shop in Gardner for several years. She was previously employed by Goodnow-Pearson of Gardner.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner. Agnes was also a member of the Holy Family Sodality, AARP, Gardner Golden Agers and Holy Family League.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with her family.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bonk who died in 1997.
She leaves one son, Joseph Bonk and his wife Linda of Plymouth; one sister-in-law, Wanda Kodys; two grandchildren, Julianne Gravina and Lindsey Leonard and her husband Nathaniel; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ave Gravina; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeased by two brothers, Chester Kodys and Edmund Kodys and by three sisters, Jennie Kodys, Florence Merkel and Carrie Hokkanen.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
